Safeguarding at St Thomas CofE School

At St Thomas CofE School we are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all of our children. We believe that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and we expect all staff, volunteers, and visitors to share this commitment.

We work proactively to ensure that our pupils feel safe, valued, and supported. All staff are trained to recognise and respond to safeguarding concerns and understand their responsibilities within an open and transparent culture of care.

You can view our Safeguarding and Child Protection policy on the School Policies page by clicking here.

Operation Encompass:

All schools in Bolton participate in Operation Encompass, a partnership with Greater Manchester Police that supports children affected by domestic abuse.

When police attend a domestic abuse incident involving a child from our school, the school is informed before the next school day begins. This allows us to provide appropriate support to the child as soon as they arrive at school.

A trained member of staff acts as the key adult for Operation Encompass and ensures information is handled sensitively. https://www.operationencompass.org

Fortalice:

As a school we also work with Fortalice who are a Bolton based charity who provide frontline services for those who are, or may have been, affected by domestic abuse or violence. Fortalice – Domestic Abuse Charity North West – 01204 365677
